Note that the published sheet music from Forton Music UK is of the highest quality!
Description
The Wassail Carol is an arrangement of a traditional Christmas Carol for Brass Quintet: 2 Trumpets in Bb, French Horn in F, Trombone, and Tuba. Each instrument takes a verse as a solo, and the arrangements reflect the lyrics of each verse, including a barking dog! This special arrangement, commissioned by Denis Curlett and the Bournemouth Symphonic Brass, the brass ensemble of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, features solos for each of the five players. The Wassail winter festival, originally an ancient, pagan celebration in the UK, is where peasants would take drinks and food at their feudal masters’ dwellings, drinking from a Wassail bowl, which is similar to a punch bowl.
Standard
The arrangement is suitable for intermediate-level players.
